DSC_0252We forgot. It’s time for a confession. We forgot to put this condo address and the condo building right next to it on our downtown condo map. Mistakes like this can happen, especially when one is more focused on things that are brand new. It was also only recently that we added the “Riverforks” complex on Becher Street to the downtown condo list.
These are pictures of “The Blackfriar Estate Condominiums” ( the Bishop’s Palace) and the “Raleigh House” ( at 693 Barton St. which is next to it).DSC_0256 Both of these structures sit on top of a hill directly above the “Blackfriar Bridge”. Imagine what these views looked like about 140 years ago when they were first built?
The number of condos here is now only about a handful and their sales history is very limited.DSC_0257 Historical plaques outside of these two buildings tell you more about their history. Watch soon for another blog about an old church on Richmond Street north and it’s plans to be turned into condos.DSC_0259 The look and functionality of many of London’s downtown buildings are constantly changing!

Tuesday, January 19th, 2016

Thinking of making a change? How about considering a loft style condo in Windsor?DSCF3666 This is the revival/rejigging of an old bunker like structure “Hiram Walker” once owned to store their liquor.IMG_0926 It was built like a vault  This building has proudly survived and now has all new doors and windows, underground parking and a rooftop party room with outdoor rooftop gardens. This is a core “Walkerville” location and a rare offering.DSCF6256 Pubs, trendy shopping, a train station, a sandy beach for swimming, a public marina and the fifteen acre “Willistead Park/Estates” are all just steps or minutes away by roller skates .DSC_0169Detroit also is directly across the river for special events with friends.

This 69 unit structure has partial Detroit River views. There are seven different model styles and only one of these layouts is less that 2,000 sq. ft.DSCF3718 The largest unit is 2789 sq ft. which is huge in size compared to many of today’s standards. Enjoy ceiling heights as high as seventeen feet! Prices will make Toronto buyers smile.

Sales began in 2010. Check out their open house schedule online at “Club Loft” Condominium , 2175 Wyandotte Street East, Windsor and visit them the next time you are out exploring the area.DSCF3512 Condo prices were up in Windsor in 2015 and we see this trend continuing. Living Differently… A Paradigm In Urban Condo Living

Wednesday, January 13th, 2016

Going around in circles searching for a perfect new condo? Tired of the elevator experience and of having to walk great lengths to get to your car? May we now tell you about a cube shaped buildings we know about which offers one bedroom units which you can purchase? They have an open floor plan, a gas fireplace and a small fenced outside courtyard area to plant flowers in and to enjoy in the summertime for years to come. As for size they are only about 750 sq. ft. so they are very compact. Since they are brand new forget in the near term ever having to do anything to them. It’s easy living. DSC_0084
“East Forest Homes” has being building this style of units for years in cities across south western Ontario like in Kitchener on “Ottawa St.” and now in London on the south side of “Southdale Rd. W.” in the new subdivision known as “Andover Trails”. The lower two units in each of these “quads” are priced at about $200 per sq ft. and the two upper units in these “quads” cost more but don’t enjoy the outdoor private fenced patio feature.
Maybe it is time to consider living small for a variety of reasons.

“Sifton” in West London.

Wednesday, January 6th, 2016

There are new billboard signs up in West London on Oxford Street West that say “West 5”. Here is what this new concept is.

A new community of homes, shopping establishments, offices, apartments and play areas going in that will be “net zero” and generate all of the power it needs. A community that also for example tries to collect its rain water for irrigation purposes. Is such a vision far off in the future? Not really. Our last blog about a condo complex called  “The Enclave” in Ingersoll also shared some of these visions.DSC_0180

Let’s talk about this picture. It is a picture of a new office building that is being constructed in West London on Oxford Street West. When completed it will be the new head office for the builder “Sifton” and it will also be built to be “net zero”. What this means is that it will produce all of the energy that it uses. To find out more about what “Sifton” is planning for West London google “Sifton Homes” or “West 5”.
