The “Penman’s Building’s” in Paris on The Nith River

Three industrial buildings on West River Street in Paris have recently being redeveloped into residential units. The primary picture in this blog was once the head office of the “Penman Manufacturing Company” and  now this building is a 20 unit condominium residence finished out about four years ago. “Penman Manufacturing” was founded in 1868 and at one time was Canada’s largest supplier of cotton and woollen knit goods. Over 1,000 employees once worked here at the height of the boom working mostly twelve-hour shifts. “Wal-Mart” carried the “Penman” brand until 2010 and then dropped in favor of the brand “George”.Paris 140 West River(3)Paris 140 West river(2)Paris 140 West River(4)Paris 140 West River(6)Paris 140 West River(7)Paris 140 West River(8)Paris 140 West River(9)Paris 140 West River(1)Paris is only about an hour’s drive away from London. The “Rembrandt Homes” people haven’t got their company website totally updated yet (Aug 16th/2016). What’s now missing are the details of one of their newest projects called “The Towns” at 1061 Eagletrace which is just north and west of Wonderland Rd. North and Fanshawe Park Rd. West.

Now let us try and explain this confusion. Online are details of phase two of this project to be built next door called “Rembrandt Walk” which will consist of 73 detached vacant land condos much like their more expensive project just to the north and east of Wonderland Rd. North known as “Stonebridge on Sunningdale”. “The Towns” project by comparison will consist of four different models of two level condos constructed in blocks of three, four, five, six or eight units. 53 units in total will be built with prices now starting at $249,000 and going up to over $300,000. Three of the new units in this complex will have double car garages, twelve units will have no garages and the rest will be singles. This design style is common to many of Rembrandt’s recent projects.P1260260
